  1. Pepi and Ferreira shouldn't be locks. Have to bring the hot hands and most versatile vs different lineups they'll see at WC. I think Ferreira is too narrow in his skillset and will get bodied out vs better opponents. And Pepis has to score and more than just a few.

  2. Most brain dead take from Charlie and Heath that if Pepi scores 0 goals he still makes the roster , Pefok , Haji , & Sargent are all playing and scoring. I'm taking strikers who are playing AND SCORING to the world cup.

  3. I expect Pepi to score goals, but if somehow he plays almost every game at striker and does not score any goals in the eredvisie then you cannot bring him. That league is made for attackers to score. Not scoring would show that he is nowhere near the level needed. Saying all that, I do expect Pepsi to score goals and go to the World Cup.

  4. If Americans don't boycott Chelsea, I don't know. We support and adore Christian and we want him to slay. However, Todd is an idiot. This is me: He sees Leeds viewership and sales in items because of Jesse, Brenden, and Tyler. Let's be real…Since when has a Leeds game been on USA??? Last season, all the games were on peacock. Todd should have taken the L. He should have loss US viewership/sales of Christian jersey. He should think about this nation but he's thinking about his pockets!!! THIS IS THE WORLD CUP not MLB Finals!!! Christian would have been back at Chelsea so it would be temporary. He needs to play and develop. Omg… if this situation isn't reason enough for John Brooks being on the team, I don't know what is!! Poor Christian. When he walked off that field so did my dollars and we all need to do the same.

  6. Florenzi is injured so dest will get minutes at RB. But the real issue at Milan is at RW. I think he can be better the saelemakers and messias. Dest at RW is interesting. Also kalulu is great at RB so it can give dest space to challenge for RW

  7. Some context on the John Brooks transfer:

Benfica coming off last season had Lucas Verissimo, Otamendi, Jan Vertonghen and Morato.

Lucas Verissimo out of all of them was probably the best CB, unfortunately suffered a nasty injury last Novemeber and should only return late September maybe later. With this in mind, Benfica went on to sign João Victor from Corinthians for 9,5M€ (iirc) and was expected to be the starter with Otamendi. Well, during his last game for his club he gets injured, that was July and he's still out. No reliable reports on when he should return.

This leaves the club with Otamendi, Jan, Morato and António Silva (18yo called for pre-season, was part of Benfica's youth team that won the youth league last season; he did pretty well during pre-season and has stuck with the team, but also plays for the B-team). Benfica play a very pressing style, high line, so Otamendi and Morato have been starting, Jan and Antonio as bench options.

Jan Vertonghen is not competing with a starting spot and since it's a WC year he requested to leave (already left, Anderlecht I believe). Last weekend vs Boavista, Otamendi was suspended and the duo was Antonio (18) and Morato (21)…

Benfica's plan was apparently to stick with Otamendi and Morato who have been playing well, and Antonio as an option (who has also been doing well) and wait for the other two (Lucas and Joao) to return.

Problem was during last Tuesday's game, in the last minute of the match, Morato got injured (expected to be out for 4-6weeks) leaving Benfica with only 2CBs. So Benfica needs another CB as a stopgap for the upcoming weeks. Benfica was already in contact with Draxler's agent (for his transfer to Benfica) same one as Brooks, so that's how the Brooks transfer came to be.

As it stands for the upcoming several weeks (over a 1 month) the CBs options are Otamendi, Antonio Silva (18) and Brooks (only left-footed one). So he should get enough playtime in the upcoming games. Antonio should start the game tomorrow as Brooks just arrived, but after that…

After the WC, assuming all CBs are recovered and well, unless Brooks does amazing I believe he falls heavily on the pecking order tho. Reports are 1 year + 1 options which make sense for Benfica. As for Brooks as long he does well he should have options even if after loses the starting spot.

  8. Boehly is a business man and I think he realized that Pulisic hasn't been a lucrative marketing cash cow as it's made out to be. I'm sure he analyzed that. He has other players there that will go further in World Cup and make him more $. he wants him to stick around just in case. Then they will unload him
