  1. The way the English football community and tabloids treated Beckham after this, I’m surprised he even strapped on the colours again. It was a national disgrace how they treated a 23 year old over a BS red flag call.

  2. 1978 Holland lost any and all credibility of ever winning the world cup, twenty years later I felt depressed for Bergkamp being born Dutch -> because extraordinary man and talent but will never lift that achievement and trophy although he deserves it.

  3. Ref's mistake, nor now neither back then, it was never a red card. It absolutely destoryed England's chance, and majorly down boosted Beckham mentally, otherwise thta couple of season was his peak, Ballon D'Or level game.

  4. We really appreciate Beckham here in Argentina. He's a nice dude. Not all Argentinians hate the English as you may think. There are still some, yes, but most of the population has (rationally) left behind the war.

  5. Simeone was a cheat. He should have been sent off for the foul, and for the BS reaction to the teensy tape that Becks gave him.
They may have won the match, but we still own The Falklands.

  6. Simeone no hizo nada anti-deportivo? jajaja la risa que me da, le dejo ir el cuerpo con la carga por la espalda, era de amarilla, sin duda y Beckham cayo en la trampa. Ahhh que recuerdos!

  7. I still don't think it's a red card. As a rev you should have a feeling for the game. Feel the tension, know what is happening on the field. Beckham getting hit in the back, Simeone leaning on top of him. Beckham shouldn't have kicked Simeone. And of course Simeone took the dive. No-one blames him. A yellow card is fine, but red is just outrageous. What happened to Beckham in the years after is more on Kim Milton Nielsen than it is on Beckham or Simeone.

  8. Escucharon Mexicanos? Escucharon Chilenos? … para Inglaterra jugar con Argentina es especial. Asi como tambien lo es para Argentina jugar contra ellos.
Ustedes (mexico y chile) … no existen .. no son nadie en el futbol mundial. No cuentan.

  9. Completely incorrect red card. That's not excessive force or brutality. It's unsportsmanslike conduct. Nothing more than a yellow card.

  10. Shoulder barging someone in the back of the head and then putting your weight all over their back and back of their head = yellow. Lightly brushing someone’s leg with yours = red. Cool. Makes sense.
