  1. Michigan and Ohio State are both good choices for you to go to. But you should really go to Michigan vs Ohio State, they are one of the biggest rivalries in college football. Love your reactions!

  2. The “real fans”… I hate people calling NFL fans “fake fans”, it’s beyond corny. Sorry we like watching the sport get played at the very top level and have a team local to us. Guess that means we’re “fake fans”…

  3. This guy went into this game with a terrible attitude. If he hated going, why did he go? I didn't see a gun to his head. He was determined to not like it and thought it was a waste of his time. Oh well, that was his loss.

About the players playing for "nothing," how do you think most of those guys in the NFL learned the game? Most of 31:51 31:51 those guys started playing when they were 5, 6, 7 years old in junior/little leagues all over the country. Then, if they keep it up, they play in middle school and probably most certainly in high school. Then, if a kid is good enough, word will get out in the football world, usually through coaches or maybe reporters. Recruiters from colleges will come to high school games to watch certain kids play to see if they want to recruit them to their university to play on their team. If they are really good, they could be pursued by multiple universities. They are offered scholarships to play on their teams and if they are recruited by multiple teams, the kid and parents will visit the schools to see where they like the best. Of course, these scholarships are only given if they have a high enough grade point average (GPA) and they have to keep up their grades in university as well. If they don't, they will be cut from the team for breaking the "rules" of their scholarship.

It's all a very long process which spans overultiple years. Some of the details will vary from kid to kid, but that's kind of a summary of how it happens mostly. Also, it's the same for all the 4 main sports ‐‐ football, basketball, baseball and hockey. Also, most kids know that they probably won't go pro because only the best few are really good enough to do that. At the university level, they study all kinds of things, like — accounting, medicine, law, communication, veterinary medicine, etc — whatever they are interested in. That's because most of them are not going to play pro ball, they are going to have other careers. There's just not enough spots on a team for all of them to actually go pro. Since they know that going in, they are prepared. Also, there's also the chance that they could get injured playing college ball and not be able to go any further with it. Unfortunately, it occasionally does happen. And then there's the fact that if they get that college degree while playing college sports, they are also prepared after they get done playing. Some don't actually play that long on the pro teams. There are new guys coming to play on the teams every year so some guys are also leaving, also.

As far as the players being celebrities goes, they can certainly be a "celebrity" in their own city or area or maybe even their own state but it's usually only a very few each year or two that get mentioned on the nightly sports reports on 31:51 31:51 TV. You know, the star QB who runs for a great number of yards or throws for lots of yards or makes a certain number of touchdowns — stuff like that. And yes, they cover high school sports on the nightly news. Around most of the country, high school games are on Friday nights, college games are on Saturdays and pro games are on Sundays. Football for sure — basketball and baseball shedules are not as predictable. But especially where people in areas where there's not a pro team in their city, people can get very passionate about college and even high school sports. It's how people socialize with their friends, family and neighbors.

Anyhoo, that's a small overview of the sports scene. There's lots more to it, but I guess you'll just have to visit the 🇺🇸 USA to see for yourself. I hope you enjoy it more than the guy in the video. Actually, I think you will. Thanks for reacting to the video. I most likely not be subbing to that guy but I subbed to you a long time ago. 😊😂😅❤

  4. I don't even really like sports but I've been to a few college football games, the whole experience is very energetic and a lot of fun. In West Virginia we have 2 major universities West Virginia University in the northern part of the state and Marshall University in the southern part and when they play its a huge rivalry that's a lot of fun. The WVU mascot is a mountaineer and when the team scores he will fire an actual rifle

  5. College football is up there with the best sport spectator experiences of anywhere. US colleges are brands. USC is multi billion dollar brand and football is one of their best advertising tools. Just the trojans football program brings in 50 million dollars a year.

  6. He is 100% right about a few people having a tough time after college who don't make it to the NFL. It is the same with professional sports after athletes retire. Many cannot find a high like playing in front of hundreds of thousands of people, so some become depressed or turn to drugs to try to get some sort of dopamine/adrenaline rush again.

  7. You're not crazy about college football players not being celebrities. To their schools and to college football fans they definitely are. But a household name? Not so much. Every 10 years or so there might be 1 college football player who is such a freak of nature and so good that he breaks out of college football fan fame and is known nationwide to people who don't follow the sport, but this is rare. Or a player makes it on the news for the wrong reason and is sort of infamous for something bad.

  8. The presenter was a real downer. I know other English presenters that would’ve found the college football experience to be a big thrill! The thing that makes adult college football fans is called school spirit and it’s contagious. You don’t have to be an alumna of your favorite team. I did not go to Penn State, but have been an avid Nittany Lion fan for more than 40 years. Originally, I became a fan because my boyfriend was Lion crazy. I used to live close enough to the stadium to hear the game noise. Once, I decided at the last minute to walk to a game and enjoy it live. Oh, the reason the crowd may react more after a play than a score is because a play can make or break the potential to score. Now that’s something to cheer for! I might add that USC was cheering though they were down by six because there was still the potential to win (a touchdown and the extra point would give them seven more points and the game). It all comes down to the amount of time left, who has possession, and the point deferential at that time. Hey, as the old saying goes, “It ain’t over til it’s over!” Anything can happen in football.😮

  9. This might be an unpopular opinion. But i think i have a balanced perspective.

First off, i dont really care for the sport. I dont like that people get their careers ended by injuries, broken limbs, concussions, spinal cord problems, etc. A single injury in college or nfl can change the rest of your life. Plus all the food served at these events is junk, its horrible for you. With it being an outdoor sport, its either really hot or really cold, depending on the season (less true in other states, but i live in the South, sooo….)

HOWEVER, i absolutely LOVE the atmosphere. Theres nothing else like it. Thousands of people focused on one event, passionate about it, different opinions and desires all coming together. Youll get thousands of people joining in one chant, like a true hivemind. Its an amazing experience.

But if only we did that with something besides football….

Also if you read this Andre, football touchdowns are 7 points, so 41 to 35 is just a single touchdown difference.

  10. His video is cool and all but he needed to get in touch with a few Americans that were going to the game cause you can't go alone and have much fun it's about community and Alcohol poisoning

  11. A lot of the college kids that don't make it in the NFL return as hometown heroes, and get a sales job at a bank, car dealership, consulting firm, etc, and live off their name recognition quite comfortably. The real life guy from "Remember the TItans", Ronny 'Sunshine' Bass was a retired commercial salesman at the local TV studio I once worked at. They still had his picture up, and talked about what a great salesman he was. Golf, dinners, and booze. Not a bad life.

  12. Dude had a negative attitude the second he got there. He was given on the field/tunnel access that most people would kill for and yet he still complained the entire time that it was different than what he expected/wanted.

College sports (really American sports in general) aren’t tribalistic like European soccer, it’s supposed to just be good family friendly fun. Just because we don’t riot and try to kill each other doesn’t mean we aren’t passionate about our teams.

  13. The attitude of the guy doing this video is why America kicked out the British. 😂 I have met multiple british people and they were lovely but this guy is so negative and snarky.

  14. I live in Tennessee the experience you would have at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville for University of Tennessee is much better. The Brit gets on my last nerve he wasn't very good in many respects.

  15. The University of Michigan stadium has an official seating capacity of 107,601 but has hosted crowds of 115,109 people. They also have a great pregame tailgating culture.

  16. There are scholarships available for students who want to be in a university band or cheerleader. You don't just show up. You need to have talent and discipline.

  17. Football players in US usually start playing in secondary school (high school). Some will play in their colleges/universities and get their tuitions covered. A few continue to play professionally in the NFL but most just practice their professions after they graduate. Don't feel sorry for them. They are in school to graduate and can only play for four years while in college.

  18. I so appreciated you view of this video. The guy that made it is an arrogant ass and I actually gave him a thumbs down. However, you are always respectful and appreciate that the US has a very unique sports culture. Honestly, there would never have been any NFL if not for college football, college football hooked the country on the sport about 10 years after the civil war so it is about 150 years old. In fact a college you mentioned was one that really made it national, Michigan. Michigan learned the game from the ivy league teams and taught other Midwestern teams the game, that really was the start of football in the US, from a historical point of view.
I do believe you would love to see a game here in the US. Although, make sure you see the teams you want. There are several Michigan teams, with Michigan and Michigan State being the big two in the state. I think for Ohio you mean Ohio State. There is an Ohio team as well but it is smaller and probably not the one you are thinking of.
Keep up the reviews you are understanding more about what make America tick. 😊

  19. This dude started the video with such a negative mindset, it's not surprising he didn't have a good time. I hope there's another reaction video for Andre to react to.
